My High Flying Adventure

In 2018 I went into Toronto to a studio that offered suspension yoga courses, I went with a couple of my girlfriends and we took the two hour workshop. It was incredibly fun and a new spin on doing yoga, the yogi gym that we practiced in made it so easy to get into those poses that were a little more difficult to do without it. This way I was able to reap the benefits of these poses without straining myself. I loved this type of yoga because it allowed for everyone to do yoga in a very comfortable and accessible way. I had just graduation from my 200Hr yoga teacher training and thought that I would love to teach this type of yoga as well. My girlfriends and I all had the same idea, we looked into a couple of different programs. We found some and took a few classes to see what one would be good for us and what we wanted to teach. We found a course that looked amazing and all signed up.

I took the course, finished it and still have my practicum to complete, but I am well on my way and so excited to share my teachings of suspension yoga with you all. There is so many possibilities with the yogi gym that I would love to show you. As I mentioned before the equipment allows you to get into the poses. Whether to help with balance or to assist you into getting the right alignment with the poses. The other element with the yogi gym is that you can get right up side down and be totally inverted.

Through my training I not only learned how to teach suspension yoga but also all the benefits that can come from being inverted. Let me back up; an inversion is when the heart is above the head, so this could be as simple as being in bridge pose or being totally turned up side down in the sling in a diamond wrap, because in that pose your heart is above your head. In the yogi gym you can try a variety of different inversions at different heights. The great thing about the yogi gym is that it has the adjustment ropes, so you can move through the different heights i.e. ankle, mid shin, knee, midthigh, and inguinal level. This means you can stay where you are comfortable while being inverted. The yogi gym also has a foam insert in the sling which allows for more comfort when doing the poses and hanging upside down. The yogi gym is really an incredible piece of equipment for suspension yoga.
